In 1912, master confectioner Ernst Fischer founded the Corso-Konditorei. He leased the “Fürst Reichskanzler” coffee house on the corner of Goethestraße and Brühl from former court confectioner Gustav Hausmann and ran a reading café there with 200 domestic and foreign newspapers. In 1926, he opened another concert and reading café on Augustusplatz, followed by the café in the Königspassage on August 1.
On December 4, 1943, the Corso concert café and the “Fürst Reichskanzler” pastry shop were reduced to rubble by bombing raids. But Ernst Fischer was not brought to his knees by the heavy blow and took over the Café Hennersdorf in Gewandgäßchen on July 1, 1944. At the same time, he leased the bakery in Brüderstraße as a production facility for his confectionery, which was joined by a café and store.
